Accessories Trends Spring 2008

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

Over-sized clutches, extreme wedges, sculptural heels and bold necklaces are the star buys of the season.

FendiLast season was all about giant shoulder bags, but this spring, there's a new oversized bag in town - the clutch. The clutch goes super-size and comes out for daytime this season. Fendi's squashy numbers were the most covetable on the catwalk.

Burberry
The hobo bag is back and roomier than ever. Burberry's version came in the softest possible leather and was modernised with on-trend metal studs for a boho-luxe look. I'm not sure why it's called hobo bags. But, this so called hobo bags are popular among Hollywood celebrities who favor the bohemian, or boho-chic, style familiarized by such celebrities as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Sienna Miller, and Joss Stone.

Stella McCartney
Stella McCartney's line of ethical shoes featured this intricate carved wooden pair of sandals. They're almost too beautiful to wear outside! They look heavy and bulky looking though. I guess you have to get used to walking in them.

Matthew Williamson
This one is certainly my number one favourite. Cut-out peep-toe booties may not be practical in the heat, but when has that ever stopped us? These booties are simply stunning and sexy and are sure to add a brilliant style boost to any outfit. Matthew Williamson, Balenciaga and Gucci produced some of the best.

Spring 2008 trends also bring forward the big, bold necklace as the fashion accessory of the season. The latest scoop is the colorful plastic necklace with chunky crystals/gems pendants. You can always bet on multi string beads, pearls and chains necklaces. They add a glam twist to any outfit, no matter how simple it is.
