Does Apple Cider Vinegar Help to Treat Dandruff

Wednesday, February 17, 2016

Out of all those available natural ingredients to get rid of dandruff issue, apple cider vinegar works best. But, here, one question comes to our mind and that is – what makes apple cider vinegar so useful to treat dandruff? Let's find out!

Antibacterial: Apple cider vinegar is loaded with natural probiotics, which makes it antibacterial and anti-inflammatory in nature. So its use kills the bacteria and fungus that cause dandruff. It also prevents the reoccurrence of dandruff issues.

Anti-inflammatory: The anti-inflammatory properties of apple cider vinegar soothe the irritated scalp that is caused due to dandruff. It also reduces the inflammation of the scalp.

Restores the Moisture Level: The acidic content of the apple cider vinegar restores the moisture content of the scalp, which in turn controls the growth of fungus on the scalp. Its acidic content also maintains the pH balance of the skin, thus its use removes the build up from the scalp without removing the natural oil.

No Chemicals: Apple cider vinegar is free of chemicals. So, its regular use will not cause any damage to the scalp and at the same time will cure the dandruff issue effectively.

Opens Clogged Hair Follicles: Apart from all these above mentioned dandruff-fighting properties, apple cider vinegar also contains various enzymes that open the clogged hair follicles. This process, in turn, makes the scalp healthy and keeps dandruff at the bay.

How to Get Smooth and Soft Hands

Wednesday, December 3, 2014

What you need:
One tablespoon of olive oil (or coconut oil would be fabulous for this, too) and two tablespoons of sugar

Step 1
Pour olive oil and sugar into your hand

Step 2
Rub the mixture in between your palms to combine and then spread it all over my hands as if you are washing your hands with soap

Step 3
Working in little circular motions all over your hands. This is to scrub off all that dead skin. You can take it up your arm a bit, too. Scrub a little on your cuticles (if it's dry) as it helps to soften them.

Step 4
Allow a few minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water

Step 5
Apply lotion as needed throughout the day to protect that new skin.

You'll be amazed with the difference in your hands. Do this twice a week.

Good luck XOXO

Tuesday, October 7, 2014

Did you know that eating a diet rich in antioxidants is not only good for your health, it's actually great for your skin too. But what are antioxidants? By definition, antioxidants such as vitamins A and C are substances that can help prevent the effects of free radical damage in the body. In other words, antioxidants can neutralize the process of oxidation and cellular damage which contributes to aging and disease. The body does not produce antioxidants, but it requires a variety of antioxidants to help neutralize free radicals. Thus we need to consume foods that contain these ingredients.

What is the impact to our body if it lacks antioxidants? The simplest example is taking an apple, eating only half, leave it at room temperature and observe the changes. Apple transformed into brown caused by the process of oxidation byproduct of free radicals. This also occurs in the body by free radicals which are produced by the body through free radical reactions biochemical. However, too much will bring harm to the body. Other factors such as smoking, drinking alcohol, acids, sunlight, exposure to radiation and environmental pollution will produce more free radicals in the body.

Here's the antioxidant skin foods that nourishes your skin from inside and makes sure that your skin remains younger and healthier.

The best thing about the following list is that they're also delicious!

1. Kurma (Dates)

It provides a good source of energy for your body. Among one of the vitamins that are in kurma is Vitamin C. Vitamin C functions as an antioxidant known as tannin. In fact, the kurma are also rich in vitamin A, which is antioxidants to keep skin healthy and beautiful.

2. Raisin

Raisins are actually green or black grapes that are dried. Indeed, grapes are also rich in antioxidants high. Phenolic Phytonutrients contained raisins functioning in killing germs, antibiotics and antioxidants in skin care.

Proper Way to Apply Perfume

Monday, September 22, 2014

Almost all women and men are fond of wearing perfume. Wearing perfume can somewhat increase the look and confidence because you know that you smell wonderful. But, how to make perfume scent lasts longer? Knowing the right way to apply perfume helps ensure the best possible result.

There are several ways you can maintain to make perfume scent lasts longer:

1. Apply Perfume Right After Shower
Apply perfume right after shower is the best way to maintain its scent. You don't want to stain your clothes and jewelry, do you? Remember that some perfumes can stain clothes and jewelry easily. If you use perfume directly on the body, it will be activated by the body's natural heat. Therefore, the fragrant smell will remain much longer. So, spritz some on your skin after drying off and before putting on your clothes.

2. Spray, Rather Than Rubbing
It is not recommended to rub perfume because the act of brushing can destroy the scent molecules, resulting in a distinct odor. Instead, just spray perfume, about 15-25 cm from the skin. Lightly-sprayed smell will spread evenly on the body.

3. Where To Spray?
Ever wonder why people put perfume on their wrists and neck? These are your body's "pulse points" (your inner arms and the backs of your knees and ears are the others). Pulse points emit the most heat, allowing the perfume to diffuse out from the body. However, less is more. You don't want to over spray, so pick one or two key places and spritz each one once or twice.

4. Moisten The Skin Before Applying
Scientific studies show perfume smells more lasting on oily skin, as compared to dry skin. Many people look at an oily skin as a problem, but it has the advantage of which it can retain the smell of perfume longer. Therefore, if you have dry skin, moisten first or you can apply unscented lotion before spraying. Perfume lasts longer when your skin is hydrated.

5. Save Fragrance In The Right Place
Protect your perfume from moisture, heat and light. Preferably a place that is a cool and dry, away from direct sunlight. Moreover, buy perfume spray bottle is encouraged as it will help to prevent evaporation and aroma chemical reaction to air.

Lemon Water Can Really Improve Your Morning (And Day)

Tuesday, July 22, 2014

Check out these 12 reasons to start drinking lemon water first thing in the morning and make sure the water is warm or room temperature.

Lemon Water
Hydration
There may be arguments in the health community about exactly how much water to drink each day, but we do know it's important to stay hydrated. For those who find water boring, lemon has long been suggested as a tasty addition to help compel them to chug.

Constipation Help
If you're having trouble pooping, warm water and lemon might be just the thing to help you go. Taking in plenty of water is helpful for constipation in general, and the citrus can give some help to get things moving inside.

Stop UTIs
If you're suffering from a Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) or want a way to prevent them, lemon water can help. Lemon helps change the pH blood and the urinary tract so that harmful bacteria can't stick around.

Battle Breath
Of course, there's no way to avoid morning breath, but drinking lemon water can combat the bacteria in the mouth, and therefore, lessen the potential for bad breath. Be careful, though - lemons can also erode the enamel on your teeth, so it's a good idea to rinse with plain water after your glass.

Weight Loss
There are a variety of theories as to why lemon water might cause weight loss (including feeling more full from the pectin contained within).

Freshen Your Skin
Thanks to all the vitamin C within lemons, your skin reaps the benefits of you drinking the fruit as well. Vitamin C assists in the production of collagen, so having more in your diet can prevent wrinkles from forming. And of course, drinking lots of water is great for skin in general.

Pump Up The Immune System
There's a reason you're always drawn to oranges when you're sick — once again, the power of vitamin C at play. Consuming the vitamin daily (via lemon water) can help keep you healthy and stave off infection.

Recover From A Workout
Sports drinks have long been seen as the best way to 'rehydrate' after a workout, but they're often unnecessary for the kind of exercise most people do regularly. Lemon water, meanwhile, provides the hydration needed.

Helps With Aches And Pains
Lemon water can help reduce uric acid in our joints, which is one of the main causes of inflammation, especially as related to arthritis.

Reduces Phlegm
It's a sad fact of our cold weather existence - phlegm happens, especially in the morning, but lemon juice can help. Adding a little honey to help rid your body of the mucous.

Strengthens The Brain
Lemon may be known best for its vitamin C, but it also contains potassium, which helps with brain and nerve function. So for a quick natural way to feel more alert, lemon water is a great bet.

Cleanses The Liver
The liver can make more enzymes out of lemon juice than any other food. While we aren't advocating for an intensive cleanse (we know those are unnecessarily), this can help give your organ a boost.

Eyebrow Growth Tips

Thursday, February 27, 2014

One of Frida Kahlo's most striking features was her full and fearless eyebrows. Her thick eyebrows were a part of unique beauty. In fact, her thick eyebrows met in the middle and crowned her delicate nose. Yes, if you want thicker and fuller eyebrows like Frida Kahlo, here are some quick and natural home remedies to help you grow your eyebrows back faster.

Bushy Brows: Frida Kahlo
1. Olive Oil
Apply olive oil to eyebrows once per day at bedtime. It helps the eyebrows get thicker by moisturizing hair follicles. This keeps them healthy and encourages hair growth. Apply two or three drops of olive oil on a cotton swab. Brush the olive oil on the eyebrows using the swab. Leave it on overnight and wash off in the morning.

2. Petroleum Jelly
Put petroleum jelly on eyebrows twice a day. Dip a cotton swab into the container and apply to the eyebrows. Apply it twice per day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Use a bit less in the morning so that it does not make your face look greasy. Petroleum jelly traps moisture in the skin which moisturizes the follicles in your eyebrows.

3. Coconut Oil
Apply coconut oil to eyebrows once a day. Coconut oil can help them grow back thicker and faster without being very greasy. It moisturizes the eyebrow hairs and also keeps the hair follicles healthy, which helps the hair grow. Dip a finger into a jar or contianer of coconut oil and put it on the eyebrows. Do this before bed and wash it off in the morning.

4. Aloe Vera
Put aloe vera gel directly from an aloe vera plant onto eyebrows twice per day. Aloe vera reduces sebum which can block hair follicles. Break open a leaf and apply the aloe vera to the eyebrows using a finger. Only use a little bit as it can make them feel sticky if you use too much.

5. Onion Juice
Onion juice contains sulphur, which helps in faster and denser growth of hair. Grind an onion and massage its juice into the eyebrows. Leave it on until it dries and then wash it off.

6. Milk
Milk contains proteins, which nourish hair roots. Therefore, you can use milk to improve the hair growth of your eyebrows. Take a small bowl of milk and using a cotton bud apply this on your eyebrows. Smear it well all over your eyebrows so that it nourishes every strand. In a few weeks, you will notice results.

Make Your Nails Grow Faster and Strong

Friday, September 20, 2013

Our nails are made up of Keratin, the same protein as our hair is made of. Everyone wants their nails to grow fast and strong to add beauty to our hands. Here are some ways to make your nails grow faster, strong and shinier.

1. Protein
Nails are made out of protein, so the first thing you can try is adding more to your diet such as eggs, meat and beans, as well as spinach and other vegetables that contain protein, to build healthy nails.

2. Get your vitamins
In addition to protein, a range of vitamins are necessary for healthy nail growth. Get plenty of vitamin D, C and A to ensure your nails are growing as fast as they possibly can.

3. Garlic
Garlic is very effective to make your nails grow fast. Apply garlic paste to your nails twice a week or simply cut a garlic clove in half and rub it on your nails. Its juices will be absorbed by the nail.

4. Washing dishes can make your nails weak
The detergents are very harsh for your nails and affect its growth. To protect your fingers from harmful chemicals, always wear gloves.

5. Trim your nails
Trim your nails regularly to get rid of any weak parts and apply petroleum jelly before going to bed.

6. Stop biting your nails
If you bite your nails, they never have a chance to grow, so take measures to stop this habit as soon as you can. There are drug store products that you can apply to your nails to prevent biting if you cannot stop.

7. Go for good brand nail polish
Do not use nail polishes of ordinary brands, go for good brands and use nutrient filled polishes. Avoid painting your nails with polishes than contain formaldehyde, toluene and sulfonamide. These chemicals are unhealthy for your nails.

Steam Your Face at Home

Monday, September 2, 2013

Face Steaming
To clear your skin from oils and dirt, you need to steam your face at home with simple tips as below:

  1. Wash your face to remove any dirt
  2. Take a small bowl of hot water and place your face over it for about 5-10 mins. You can also keep a towel on your head and lower your face on the steam to avoid steam from escaping.

Steaming once a week is enough to keep your pores clean. This method actually opens up skin pores and removes impurities deep down the pores, making your face soft and smooth. Blackheads are formed by clogging of pores, so steaming helps to soften pores, making it easier to pop them. It also boosts blood circulation which reproduce healthy skin cells. It could be easily done at home.

Have you tried this yet?

Reasons to Remove Makeup Before Bedtime

Friday, February 15, 2013

Some people just hate removing makeup when they come home late from a party or stay up late working or studying knowing that they should remove their makeup before bed. But, we're just too tired and lazy to do so. Do we know the consequences of sleeping with makeup on?

During the day, our skin is exposed to pollution, dirt and grime. The skin needs to breathe when we go to sleep, but if it's covered in a thick layer of makeup, how can it breathe?? Our body temperature rises as we sleep, hence opening the pores. When makeup is left on, it could seep deep down into the pores making them clogged and then breakout. Once the collagen levels decline (due to the aging process), the pores do not snap back as easily once it has been enlarged. And leaving makeup can only lead to more inflammation that can generate free radicals and collagen breakdown.

During night time, the skin needs oxygen to repair itself. And sleeping with your makeup on deprives it of this vital nutrient. When makeup stays on too long, it blocks the natural exfoliating process, which can leave your skin looking dull.

Sometimes, if we rub our eyes when asleep, we can break them easily, too. It can cause all sorts of skin problems, not to mention soiling your pillows.

Not removing eye makeup can also cause it to flake off and even more fragile (this phrase does not make sense). Eyelids will crease more quickly as well. This may further lead to skin rashes or worse eye infections such as pink eye or even corneal ulcers!! Don't forget that our eyes are the most sensitive yet most neglected in terms of make up removal.

Must remember, never go to bed without removing your makeup if you want to maintain healthy skin. Make it a nightly habit just as you brush your teeth. So, don't forget to wash off your eye makeup!

Expert Tips On How To Fix Straight Eyelashes

Thursday, November 8, 2012

Asians usually have short, sparse, very straight eyelashes, that do not like to hold a curl. Lashes that don't curl are primarily due to a lack of a double crease. The monolid forces lashes to grow straight down. Plus, the lid covers the base of the lashes making them look shorter than they are.

Here's the tips from beauty expert and also a celebrity makeup artist, Taylor Chang-Babaian, and see what she has to say about it.

Tip 1: CURL YOUR LASHES EVERY DAY
Babaian says with daily use of the curler, "you can actually train your lashes to curl." Initially, lashes are more resistant to curling, so you may have to hold down on the curler longer for the first few weeks. But she says eventually they will learn and you'll see a difference, so don't be discouraged after the first few times and continue to curl dutifully.

Tip 2: CURL TO OFFSET UNEVEN EYES
Sometimes, women can have one lid that has a crease while the other doesn't, which causes one eye to look bigger. Babaian says curling the monolid's eyelashes more will help even them out. "When you curl your lashes it puts weight into the base of your lid and it'll actually push your eye open," she says. "It makes a humongous difference.

Tip 3: THE TOOL MATTERS
She says, "If your lashes go straight down, the key is to use a great eyelash curler." She recommends curler that's wider, which "I like even more. This is great especially for eyes that are longer like a lot of Chinese eyes are." Also, since the curler is less curved, it better adheres to the flatter lids that are common among Asian women, helping to grab the entire range of lashes.

Tip 4: WALK IT OUT
To avoid the L-Shape, "make sure to walk the curler out" by starting at the base and holding it there for 10 seconds, then a shorter hold in the middle and then at the tip.

Tip 5: CHANGE CURLERS FREQUENTLY
"If you see a line in the black rubber, you gotta toss it," says Babaian. "This is really important otherwise it will cut the lashes." You're supposed to switch out the rubber tip every three months, but "if it's indented at all, toss it."

Tip 6: WEAR MASCARA
The moment you finish curling your eyelashes, they'll start to fall. Mascara acts as a sealer, so you should apply mascara immediately after curling. "I've worked on thousands of Asian women, and when you curl your lashes and wear mascara it actually helps push the eyelid up. It puts weight on the lashes and lifts the lid," Babaian says. You can also opt to wear a mascara base, but be wary as sometimes they can be too heavy which will make your lashes fall. Find something that helps freeze the curl and also thickens lashes.

Tip 7: AND MAKE SURE IT'S WATERPROOF
The most common complaint among women with straight lashes is how mascara smears onto their lower eyelids. The solution? Wear waterproof. "If it's smearing you're using the wrong [mascara]. You just have to wear waterproof," says Babaian. Waterproof formulas are lighter and have a drier consistency, so the lashes freeze in the curl quicker, which is key in maintaining the curl.

Tip 8: BREAK A CARDINAL RULE
If after meticulously following these tips, your lashes still refuse to hold a curl, Babaian says you can break one of makeup's cardinal rules: Curling your lashes after applying mascara. If you're not careful, the curler can get stuck onto your lashes and pull them out. You must make sure that the mascara is completely dry and not sticky before gently giving a squeeze. Babaian admits this is a common makeup artist practice.

Say Goodbye To Dark Underarms

Thursday, October 11, 2012

Home made skin bleach is the best and the most natural way to lighten your skin tone, thereby enhancing your beauty. Did you know that lime or lemon are natural bleach that lighten the skin? Yeah, they not only remove freckles/dark skin/acne or make your skin fairer, but also remove bad underarms odor.

I'm sure some people have problems with stubborn dark underarms. I always go for natural remedies as they are cheap, safe, effective and natural. I remembered grandma once told me that she used lime to rub her face and underarm everyday when she was little. No doubt she never had a dark underarm. She even encouraged us to use lime not only for underarms but also for face. That's why her face was smooth and fair as silk. Yeah, I always remember grandma's tips on beauty and they are always the best and useful even until today bringing some vintage wisdom to our beauty habits.

It's simple and easy! Just take a lime or lemon wedge and rub it in your underarms or affected areas for few minutes (preferably 5 minutes or more). That's it!! Do this before shower everyday. Be careful, don't rub too much or the skin will get damaged.

Good luck!

Tips to Remove Cellulite

Friday, September 21, 2012

Before I start, you may wanna know the meaning of cellulite. Here's what wiki has to say about cellulite,

"Cellulite is a topographic skin change that occurs in more postpubertal females. It presents itself as a modification of skin topography evident by skin dimpling and nodularity that occurs mainly in women on the pelvic region, lower limbs, and abdomen, and is caused by the herniation of subcutaneous fat within fibrous connective tissue, leading to a padded or orange peel–like appearance..."

Having cellulite is not a fun experience for most women. It's a stubborn fat that is hard to eliminate and it takes time to remove those stubborn saddlebags. However, if you discipline yourself by exercising, eat healthier, or use some homemade remedies, you will find a reduction in the cellulite.

We all know that the best exercises to reduce cellulite are cardio exercises. It's one of the effective way of reducing the amount and appearance of cellulite. Make a habit of exercising everyday if you can, perhaps 30 minutes to an hour. I'm sure it will return your body chemistry to a balanced state in which cellulite is less likely to develop.

You can also try skin brushing. You only need olive oil, coffee grounds and a loofah sponge. This technique is very simple and relatively inexpensive. Mix the coffee grounds with enough olive oil to make a thick paste then rub into your problem areas with a loofah sponge. This is to stimulate the blood flow and supports lymph functions. Or, you can also intensify the treatment by wrapping the applied mixture with plastic wrap and leaving it on for up to 15 minutes before showering.

Hope it helps ;) Good luck!
