How to Reduce Puffy Eyes and Dark Circles

If you have dark circles or puffy eyes, you are not alone. Many women suffer from under-eye circles and puffy eyes. Waking up with puffy eyes can be really frustrating when you have a big day ahead. Nobody wants to have puffy eyes as it can make one look tired and ill. But there is nothing to worry about as you can easily take care of them with some simple easy natural remedies.

1. Spoon

 Take five to six metal spoons and place it in your refrigerator for five to ten minutes. Now take out the cold spoon and hold the rounded portion against your eye for a few minutes until the spoon becomes warm. As the spoon warms, replace it with a cold one from the refrigerator. This will help in tightening up the skin around your eyes. It will also relax the blood vessels thus offering relief to the tired eyes. This simple home remedy is surprisingly very effective when it comes to treating puffy eyes.

2. Milk


Soak cotton wool in milk and place under your eyes for a few minutes. Content of lactic acid in the milk helps reduce dark circles under the eyes.

3. Lemon


Place two thin lemon slices directly onto your bags or circles (DO NOT get the juice in your eyes!!!!). Don't squeeze your eyes tightly but be careful not to open. Leave on for 20 minutes, then carefully rinse off with cold water. This will help lighten the dark circles.

4. Cucumber + Lemon


Soak two cucumbers in lemon juice for 3-5 minutes. To help get rid of dark circles and puffiness place cucumbers on your eyes for about 10-15 minutes.

5. Tea Bag


Tea bags can help to soothe puffy and irritated eyes. Tea bags will help to reduce the swelling around your eyes as it contains anti-irritant properties. At the same time it will give relief from redness and inflammation. For treating puffy eyes, you need to place moist tea bags over your eyes. For this, first soak the teabags in hot water for a few minutes and then take them out and let them to cool down to a warm temperature. Just lie down and put the tea bags over the eyelids and cover them with a soft cloth. After some time the swelling around the eyes will reduce.

6. Potatoes


The starch present in potatoes has got anti-inflammatory properties that can help in the treatment of puffy eyes. Take a medium sized potato, peel it, wash and then dry it. Now grate the potato and put them in a clean cloth and tie it up. Now place this cloth over the eyelids for several minutes. Repeat the process several times until the puffiness around the eyes gets reduced. This remedy is also helpful in treating headaches.
